In May half term we welcomed 42 children to our Holiday Club, 3, 2, 1, Go! And what a 4 days we had! Here’s a little report to tell you more about the week.
Tuesday was set up day and the rain didn’t put us off! In fact we were glad to have it on this day and not for the other 4 days of Holiday Club. The team, with kids and teens included, did a great job of setting up the church, or should I say the arena. Any by lunchtime we were ready to go!
And then Wednesday...3, 2, 1, Go! The Holiday Club began. The contenders were welcomed, the Gladiators were booed and presenters Nigel and Ruby, who looked strangely familiar, presented the show. Yes, there were jokes, yes there were games and crafts and yes we had a lot of fun. But the real joy of the week, for us as leaders, was sharing the good news of Jesus with children and their families. We did this through songs, bible dramas, talks based on the book, The God Contest and a chance to chat in groups.

And then how can we forget the Finale on Sunday?! Here we welcomed lots of children and their families to our service at church, which was such a wonderful way to end the week. We shared with everyone what we’d done at the Holiday Club, sang our favourite songs (some of which are still stuck in the leaders’ head’s!) and heard that anyone can join Jesus team. We just need to realise that we’re lost and need saving and that Jesus came to find us and save us. We rounded things off in style by having a BBQ with a bouncy castle at the Rectory. And after that, we as leaders collapsed!

Thank you to everyone who came. You don’t need to wait until next May to see us again. On Sundays we love welcoming families (and people of any age!) to St James’, so do join us then. We meet at 10.45am every Sunday and at most services the children go out to Seekers, which is our group for Primary School aged children.
Whjy am I not surprised to see Jake with a watering can again. He loves spraying water around.
